TRASH PLANET HAS PARTNERED WITH STACEY OLIKA, PARYS GARDENER AND LEE AKPAREVA TO RAISE FUNDS FOR BLACK COMMUNITY PROJECTS AND INITIATIVES IN THE UNITED KINGDOM.

LONDON, June. 28, 2020 – Trash Planet, a sustainable footwear company, today announced a partnership with three independent Black artists based in the UK that aims to raise funds for different Black-owned initiatives and projects in the UK.

Jordan and Holly, the founders of the company have partnered with Stacey Olika, a Bristol-based multidisciplinary artist; Parys Gardener, a multi-award-winning contemporary digital illustrator based in Bristol, and Lee Akpareva, an aspiring Fashion/Art Director based in London.

Trash Planet has always strived to collaborate with artists to use their sneakers as a platform to inspire change and raise awareness around social issues, and this is just the beginning. Stacey, Parys and Lee have all developed a custom design on their signature Billie sneaker.

Each sneaker will go live on the Trash Planet store on Monday 29th June 2020 at approximately 19:00 BST (British Summer Time). There is only one sneaker per artist, so they are being put up as part of a raffle. People can enter the draw by donating just £10 for the sneaker of their choice and there is no limit to entries and they can enter multiple draws.

ALL OF THE MONEY RAISED WILL GO TO THE PROJECTS OF EACH ARTISTS' CHOICE.

Parys has chosen to donate all of the funds raised to an African Caribbean Culture Venue in Bristol.

Stacey and Lee have chosen to donate all of the funds raised to Black Minds Matter UK.

Three custom designed versions of the Billie chunky sneaker.

"Working with Stacey, Lee and Parys has been a great experience for us - it feels like the beginning of a revolution for us all as young people," said Trash Planet founders, Jordan Grayson and Holly Boxall. "Using our sneakers as a platform for change has always been our ambition from the get-go; this is just the beginning, and we hope to promote their work as far as we possibly can and raise a substantial amount for these inspiring projects."

Trash Planet has also donated 25 trees in each Artists' name in Madagascar. All of the manufacturing costs are paid for on behalf of Trash Planet. A special thank you to our sole suppliers Forever, represented by André Campos, for donating the soles and Mário Mesquita from Grupo Móron for donating the vegan leathers for this project.

The objectives of this new partnership are to:

- Raise funds for projects that enrich our community and provide necessary services,

- Celebrate and promote independent artists and talent whilst representing their voices on a local level. This is about celebrating them, their designs, identity and work,

- Raise awareness of social, environmental and political issues around the world

The partnership is designed to be simple for customers to get involved in helping make an impact. To take a look at the shoes the artists have designed and to make a donation to be in for the chance to win them, follow us on Instagram by clicking here to stay up to date on when they drop.

ABOUT TRASH PLANET

Trash Planet, based in Malmesbury, UK, is an independent sustainable footwear company. It is run by two young entrepreneurs, aged 25, with an ambition to disrupt the fashion industry with designs inspired by British Youth Culture, Streetwear and Rave Culture. Since inception, they have both put purpose and change at the forefront of their model, with a focus on upcycling plastic waste into quality footwear and dedicating time to important fundraising projects and initiatives. The company solely works with ethical manufacturers and they have created a sneaker from over 75% recycled materials.

They pride themselves on offering sustainable sneakers that don't compromise on style or attitude. Each sneaker purchased plants 15 trees in Madagascar to offset carbon, and they offer a free take-back scheme, where customers can recycle their old Trash Planet sneakers for a discount off their next pair.
